A shared appreciation for place: the people and perspective behind Desert House

Anne Ranek
A native of Denmark, Anne holds doctorates in Political and Cultural Geography from Roskilde University and the University of Arizona. Her academic work led to teaching urban development, community engagement, urban policy, and design at the University of Arizona.
Alongside her university work, Anne and her husband have spent 18 years building and developing urban infill housing through InnovativeLiving, primarily in downtown Tucson and the Mercado District.
After more than 15 years working alongside some of Tucson’s leading real estate agents, Anne obtained her real estate license to bring together her experience in building and renovating homes, her understanding of communities and urban environments, and her personal sense of lifestyle.

Darci Hazelbaker
After growing up in the Midwest and attending college in New Mexico, Darci moved to Tucson in 2005 and fell in love with the resilient community that has made a home within the desert landscape.
An architect and educator, Darci has shared her passion for design through her architecture practice and teaching at the University of Arizona. For more than a decade, she has worked in Tucson to advance sustainable practices, reuse existing spaces, and preserve and restore significant historic buildings.
She obtained her real estate license to combine her expertise in architecture, appreciation for timeless design, and commitment to preservation. Her design background allows her to serve as an informed advisor and resource for clients and homeowners.
